What is the Compassionate Use Registry of Texas (CURT)?

CURT is the system that allows physicians to register and prescribe low-THC cannabis to patients with certain medical conditions. Once prescribed, dispensing organizations can search for the patient in the system and dispense the medication according to the prescription. Click here to find more information.

What is "Low-THC" Cannabis?

Texas Occupations Code Sec. 169.001 defines "Low-THC Cannabis" as the plant Cannabis sativa L., and any part of that plant or any compound, manufacture, salt, derivative, mixture, preparation, resin, or oil of that plant that contains not more than 1.0 percent by weight of tetrahydrocannabinols.

Will it be legal to smoke low-THC marijuana now?

No. Texas Occupations Code §169.001 specifically prohibits ingesting low-THC cannabis by smoking. Patients cannot grow their own marijuana either. For updates on laws and regulation in Texas click here

What protections will patients and legal guardians have against criminal prosecution for possession of marijuana?

Texas Health and Safety Code §481.111(e)(1) exempts patients or their legal guardians from criminal offenses relating to possession of low-THC cannabis that has been prescribed under a valid prescription from a state of Texas licensed dispensing organization.

How do I fill my THC prescription?

THC prescriptions are valid at any licensed Texas medical dispensary. Patients are sent specific instructions via email on how and where to pick up their prescription.

How do I get a medical marijuana prescription?

Patients should register and schedule a virtual visit using this link. Low-THC cannabis may be prescribed if:

  • The patient is a permanent resident of Texas,

  • The patient is diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, autism, cancer, epilepsy, an incurable neurodegenerative disease, multiple sclerosis, post-traumatic stress disorder, a seizure disorder, or spasticity, and,

  • The qualified physician determines the risk of the medical use of low-THC cannabis by a patient is reasonable in light of the potential benefit.

Will insurance cover my subscription?

No.

How much does a prescription cost?

Costs at the pharmacy or dispensary vary by patient, insurance, and prescription. At little leaf, we write prescriptions though all our memberships. The price of medication monitoring varies depending on membership and does not include the in-hand medication itself. Free members do not qualify for THC prescription monitoring but may qualify for other traditional prescriptions such as depression medication or blood pressure medication for $20 per month per medication.  Green, Standard, and Ultimate memberships includes THC prescription at no additional cost. If Green members desire to add on an additional medication such as depression or blood pressure medication, then they will be charged $20 per month per medication in addition to their membership subscription. Standard members can qualify for regular fills of one traditional medication (e.g. depression or blood pressure medication) at no extra cost. Ultimate members can qualify up to monthly refills of 5 different traditional medications (e.g. depression or blood pressure medication) at no extra cost.

What are the cancellation fees?
No cancellation fees.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Cancel anytime any reason through your portal or call us.

Is there a registration or startup fee?

Not at this time. Little Leaf is waiving the registration costs for our early members.

How do I update my credit card information?

Please call us or update this information through your patient portal in the right upper corner of this screen.

My subscription got cancelled because my form of payment did not go through. How can I resume my subscription?

If your form of payment fails, we will make an effort to contact you to update your payment details, but the payment responsibility is ultimately on the patient. We will allow a 14-day grace period for resuming the subscription. Unpaid subscriptions will be cancelled immediately.

Can I get a discount?

Maybe. Little Leaf runs intermittent specials. Registered patients enrolled in our membership will always be given priority discounts. Some discounts will be automatically applied to member accounts and others may require redemption such as a coupon code. At this time, we do not offer referral discounts.

How do I ask for a refund?

Please contact us with information regarding your request via email at admin@texaslittleleaf.com for a refund. Patients who have filled their prescription(s) do not qualify for a refund.

Can I have an in person visit with my provider?

No.

Will participation as a patient in the Compassionate Use Program (CUP) affect my eligibility for a Texas License to Carry a Handgun?

A patient’s participation in CUP does not, in itself, disqualify the individual from obtaining or maintaining a License to Carry (LTC).  Notwithstanding that certain medical marijuana programs have been determined by the FBI to disqualify an individual from possessing firearms, the department does not believe this determination applies to Texas’ low-THC cannabis, Compassionate Use Program.

However, the individual’s underlying condition that is the basis for participation in CUP may under certain circumstances be disqualifying. If the medical condition potentially affects the individual’s ability to exercise sound judgment, the department may refer the matter to the Medical Advisory Board (DSHS) for their review and recommendation. Should the Board find the individual “incapable of exercising sound judgment with respect to the proper use and storage of a handgun,” the department would deny an application or revoke a current LTC.
